Based on the architecture of the legendary EMS VCS3 synthesizer, XILS 3 is able to create both classic sounds and completely new ones. Its matrix design is capable of more than 450 communications permutations, offering more routing capabilities than any other virtual synthesizer available on the market. In addition, an integrated sequencer based on the EMS 256 sequencer can be used to create original and complex sequences.
XILS 3 comes with hundreds of presets that provide instant access to a wide range of sounds and styles, from modern electro-sound to classic 1970s retro. You can also program the plugin to create your own unique sound.

Very rare, truly luxurious: t he EMS VCS3. Here's a VCS3A on eBay, one of the first ever. Hard to find, it will cost you a furtune in case you're really interested (asking price is 19,000 USD). The instrument's casing shows the ' typical ' VCS3 problem: a cracked wooden corner.

EMS created the VCS3 (also called ‘the putney' ), then, based on the VCS3, the Synthi A and Synthi AKS. A portable synth in a suitcase ! A James Bond suitcase.

Cynthia is a free EMS VCS3 VST emulation. It was developed with Synthedit, so it's for Windows (32 bit) hosts.
Don't forget to read the manual it's clear and instructive.
The Cynthia VST come with two dll files : it can also be used as effect, for processing your audio input.

Inspired by the VCS3
a Synthedit creation, based on the VCS3 structure.
It's the best sounding VSTi in this list. And the more powerful too.
The Kx-Synth-X16 go further his VCS3 model and is polyphonic.
The original 'springverb' is replaced with a delay.
3. Synthia 2 by EFM
Warning, it can blow your speakers.
I don't really like its sound, but if you want to experiment, don't hesitate.
